The beautiful island of Phuket draws a steady stream of foreign visitors with its numerous captivating attractions. This destination is known for its lovely beaches, resorts, restaurants, markets, exciting nightlife and more. There will be many exciting and enjoyable things to do in Phuket that would appeal to visitors with varied preferences. If you have just one day to spend here (you should definitely spend more!) you could still have numerous absorbing experiences, as described below.

View the sunrise and monks obtaining alms

Your eventful day on the island would commence before the hour of daybreak. You should make your way to the summit of Khao Rang (Rang Hill) so that you can observe the marvellous sunrise as dawn breaks over Phuket City. At this time, there shouldn’t be many people at this site. Next, you should make your way to Phuket Old Town where you could observe the saffron-robed Buddhist monks as they walk through the streets seeking alms. It will be an interesting sight to view the local Buddhists proffering alms to the monks and receiving a benediction in return.

Relish a Thai breakfast at Ranong Road

Whilst exploring the Old Town, you will come across Ranong Road, a locality that happens to be the local commercial and transportation hub. Here, the lively Public Fresh Market and the Downtown Market are staged each morning. You could take the opportunity to mingle with the locals and enjoy a wholesome breakfast of boiled rice (khao tom), Thai doughnuts (pa tong go) and iced coffee or tea at one of the numerous stalls or restaurants to be found here.

Take an ATV safari

You will see that Phuket’s north-eastern corner has evaded the hand of development and remains a natural countryside. The greater part of this area is mangrove forestland, and you will have the opportunity to explore it on an exciting all-terrain vehicle (ATV) safari. You could undertake this excursion in the morning hours; on your tour, you would power your way across the wilderness following dirt trails, surging through puddles and streams and taking a break along the way at a secluded beach.

Get tattooed at @Ink Tattoo Studio Bangtao

For a 'souvenir' of Phuket that should last a lifetime, consider obtaining an eye-catching tattoo at one of the numerous outstanding tattoo studios to be found on the island! Whilst many of these studios are located in Patong, you may choose @Ink Tattoo Studio at Bangtao Beach as this establishment would fit into your 24-hour itinerary better. When it comes to your tattoo, it is preferable to have a clear idea of the design that you would like; however, even if you don’t, your tattoo specialist could probably create an appealing motif for you.

Burn rubber at Patong Go-Kart Speedway

Now, it is time for another adrenaline-inducing activity in Phuket in the form of racing go-karts at the Patong Go-Kart Speedway! This well-known racing centre is located at the base of Patong Hill. You will find that the go-karts here are small yet powerful, with the 400 cc karts having the capability to touch 110 km/h. One of the Phuket luxury hotels to consider from which you could head to this site is Anantara Layan Phuket Resort, an ideal base for extended stays on the island to experience the best of this destination.

Party at Bangla Road

Your final destination on the island is the lively Bangla Road, which may be regarded as Phuket’s nightlife hub. Here, you will find an array of nightlife venues that will appeal to visitors with varied tastes. For instance, if you simply want to enjoy a couple of drinks, watch a game or play pool there will be diverse bars here. On the other hand, if you desire exciting music and the chance to dance your cares away there are energetic nightclubs on offer too!
