Pick the best time to visit

Plan to go there between November and March. The weather will be dry, sunny and warm throughout the island. The temperature will be at around 30 Celsius and the water will be delightfully temperate at 26-27 degrees Celsius. Occasional rainfall can be expected due to the high humidity levels, but they clear away rather quickly. Another alternative is to go during August and October. The weather will still be nice on the West Coast of the island, with mean temperatures ranging at around 25 degrees Celsius. Expect the east coast to be cooler and windy, swimming is still pleasant with a temperature of around 25 Celsius.

 How to get there

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is the primary airport on the island. It is serviced by many international carriers such as Emirates, KLM, and Air France to name a few. You can take their national carrier Air Mauritius. From the airport to the capital, Port Louise is one hour away. You can easily get a taxi from the airport; this would cost around 1700 Mauritian rupees. If travelling to Grand Baie it may cost slightly more. To other destinations, the fare will vary, however, it won't cost you more than 2500 rupees.

How long should you stay there?

It is recommended that you plan your trip for at least two weeks, so you get to explore the island to the fullest. Between ten and eight days is also good if you are pressed for time.
