Sukhumvit might not be the most alluring place to explore in Bangkok, but once you master the art of locating its nooks and crannies, an exhilarating experience will be ahead of you. Ranking as one of the longest roads in the world, Sukhumvit comprises a wide array of sub-districts waiting to be explored. If you are in Sukhumvit without a clue about where you could go, keep reading to discover the top places to visit and things to do while you are in the area.

Shop at the Emporium

At the Emporium, just as in any shopping mall, you will find a range of supplies that pique your interest such as clothes, cosmetics, electronic gadgets and household equipment to name a few. If you are hoping to shop at some high-end stores, take a look around the ground floor where you will find a myriad of high-end labels at your fingertips. And, if you get hungry while exploring, head straight to the Emporium Gourmet Market on the 5th floor for selections of both local and international delicacies.

Read and Sip at the Dasa Book Café

Book lovers should enter at the risk of not being able to get out of the Dasa Book Café. Holding over 17,000 titles, this second-hand bookstore with a built-in café is the perfect place to sip a cup of coffee while being folded between the pages of your favourite novel. It is located on the main road and should not be too difficult to find as it is only a 5-minute walk from the Emporium.

Stroll Through Benjasiri Park

If you feel scorched by the heat of midday, take a stroll through Benjasiri Park under the shade of its sheltering foliage to ease your senses. Inspect the intricate Thai sculptures and watch as the water gushes through the centrepiece fountain, instilling a calming effect upon the surroundings of the park. In the evening, when the crowd sets in for games of basketball and other sport-related activities, you could feed the fish and turtles in the pond. If all that walking exerts you by nightfall, you could check into a hotel near Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok. With time working in your favour, you just might be lucky enough to be at the park while a festival is being celebrated, as some locals tend to host these events at the park.

Watch a Movie at Quartier Cine-Art

With its ticket booth being operated by a robot, the Quartier Cine-Art theatre at Emquartier presents you with over-the-top audio and visual quality, which is to be expected given its 270-degree field of vision and 64 in-house speakers. Lean back into your opera seat or bed – if you are willing to pay the price – and enjoy the show. Don’t forget to grab some snacks and drinks at the swank lounge before the movie begins!

Dine at a Greenhouse Restaurant

For an interval from the bustling streets of Sukhumvit, wind your day up with an exquisite dinner in the Greenhouse Secret Garden at Avani Sukhumvit Bangkok. If you are travelling with your partner, this would be the perfect place for a romantic night out, with the alfresco gazebo giving you a front-row seat to the twinkling stars dotted across the night sky.

Explore the Sukhumvit Night Markets

For those looking for the best local dining experience, the Sukhumvit night markets will never fail to impress you. Satisfy your cravings with pad thai, sticky mango rice or stir-fried pork. But your choices do not stop at food. Be prepared to splurge on a range of products from clothes and accessories to souvenirs and electronic gadgets. The best part is that they are all sold at prices cheaper than you would expect anywhere else in Bangkok, which is also open to negotiation.
