 Climb Mt Eden

Hiking experiences make it the best kind of holiday. Would you agree? Bagging summits and climbing mountains is a great way to travel since you get to feel a sense of accomplishment on a hiking holiday. You will find no better place to witness a cracking view of the city’s skyline than at Mt Eden. It is an ancient volcano overlooking the city that is located a few miles away from the city. However, it is worth the visit for its view alone. The mount itself is breath-taking with its spellbinding surroundings. As you walk around to the top, you will realise how gigantic is the ancient cone. Do not forget to upload a photo to your Instagram as it gives you one of the best views in New Zealand, especially at night. Also known as Maungawhau', Mt Eden domain is a well-preserved archaeological site. It contains dozens of native shrubs and trees from karaka, ngaio and titoki to pigeonwood, rangiora and whau. This place is popular among walkers, picnickers and dog walkers and is where photographers come to capture that famous shot (It is the highest natural point in Auckland). If you are residing at one of the many hotel suites in Auckland close to this attraction such as Avani Auckland Metropolis Residences, it is a 13-minute drive to Mt Eden.

 Spend time in Mission Bay

Located about a 20-minute drive away from central Auckland, Mission Bay is an idyllic suburb not to be missed. You just have to do a little walk from the city centre. Depending on your preference to walk or not, you can get a bus there. However, once you head over to this natural attraction, you will realise that it is a great place to unwind yourself. Take a leisurely stroll along the famous harbour of Auckland where there is much to feast your eyes on, from small kayaks to giant container ships. Do not forget to have a leisurely dip before having your lunch. If you are not in a good mood to walk amidst the scorching sun, you can rent a bike or a pair of rollerblades to finish the trip in half a time. Spend some time to enjoy the surroundings because there is something exciting everywhere. If you get peckish, there are numerous restaurants and cafes nearby overlong spectacular views of the beach. What would be more attractive than enjoying a frosty glass of beer overlooking Rangitoto? A visit to Bastion Point will be ideal to learn about some historical facts about the area and also to get a healthy dose of culture. The gardens here are eye-catching with incredible views of Auckland.

 Auckland War Memorial Museum

Commence your next day by visiting this living memorial! It is one of the most interesting places to visit besides the fact that you are not interested in history. Touring inside the museum itself is worth the visit. The visit to this museum will provide you with an opportunity to learn about New Zealand’s role during the 20th Century. This war memorial museum has been built to remember those who died as a result of the first world war (those who have no known graves in their names). Standing atop Auckland Domain’s green fields, this beautiful building itself alone is a reason to visit. Real treasures lie within the walls of the museum and you will be sure to find new discoveries. Culture, history, science, fashion, nature and adventure all await.
