Home to stunning beaches, lush jungles, and vibrant culture, Seychelles is a dream come true for travellers. The country offers a vast array of attractions. You need more than a day to explore all of them, but if you have to make do with just a day, here’s how you can make the most of it.

Beau Vallon Beach

Head to Beau Vallon Beach to start your day with a refreshing dip in the ocean. Located on the island of Mahe, this popular beach is known for its powdery white sand and crystal clear waters that make you want to spend hours doing nothing but swimming. You can also sit on the beach and welcome the rising sun.

Victoria Market

Once you’ve had your fill of swimming and stunning vistas, head to Victoria, the capital of Seychelles. Here, you can see a bit of local life. The market, in particular, is a fun place to visit. It’s a busy and crowded spot, so keep your wits about you. Selling a wide array of goods, including fresh produce and artisanal products, the Victoria Market offers a delightful shopping experience. It’s one of the best places to see local life unfold, make friends, and immerse in culture. While you’re here, don’t forget to buy a souvenir or two. Now, you don’t think the capital of Seychelles is limited to shopping, do you? There’s a lot more to enjoy. Some of the must-visits include the Seychelles National Museum. On a side note, think carefully when you select a place to stay. It helps to stay at a place with easy access to popular attractions. You can also throw cost savings into the equation by opting for all-inclusive resorts in Seychelles. Your options include Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas, which is only 30 minutes from the capital.

Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve

Next, hop on a ferry to Praslin and make your way to the Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its popularity and significance mainly stem from the Coco de Mer palm tree. The reserve is also home to a variety of other plant and animal species. Plus, the bird watchers flock here for an experience of a lifetime. Give yourself enough time to walk through the reserve. Even though it has become a popular tourist attraction, its natural beauty is still untouched. You can hike through its many trails and end up discovering the most extraordinary natural wonders.

Anse Lazio

You’re sure to work up an appetite after your hiking adventure at Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve, so it’s time for lunch! Make your way over to Anse Lazio, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The beach is dotted with local eateries serving delicious local food. So, pop into one and enjoy an authentic Creole lunch while enjoying the ocean views.

Snorkelling and Diving

Seychelles is famous for water sports, so it would be a shame not to try any of it before you leave. Snorkelling and diving are some of the most popular activities, which is no surprise at all given that the country is surrounded by the treasure-filled Indian Ocean. There are several sites offering the best conditions for diving and snorkelling. Sainte Anne Marine National Park, for instance, is one of the best places to discover a wide variety of tropical fish. The Aldabra Stoll and the Cousin Island Special Reserve are high up on the list too. If you have more time, add kayaking and canoeing to your day, and visit the Anse Royal Marine National Park and the Baie Ternay Marine National Park for the best routes.

Sunset

End your day with a stunning Seychellois sunset followed by a delicious dinner at one of the restaurants. Pick any beach you want. The country is home to many, but if you want the best recommendations, check out Anse Georgette, Anse Severe, and Anse La Passe.
